Handmade jewellery from Noida-based Vezoora, enables users to see their designs crafted at its manufacturing site
Over the past two years and so Indian consumers have been showing significant amount of interest in online commerce. After electronics, apparels and accessories, consumers are also purchasing jewellery - often considered a vertical with high touch-and-feel factor. According to a report released by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the number of people visiting jewellery sites in March this year doubled to 3.76 million, as compared the same month last year.
While there are established players like Bluestone, Caratlane and Juvalia & You, a new entrant in the online jewellery space is Noida-based Vezoora, a manufacturer cum etailer of handcrafted jewellery with natural gemstones. Though the company entered into B2C segment now, it’s been into manufacturing for more than 7 years. Currently, the portal offers six categories including, ring, pendant and necklace amongst others. For Indian consumers, Vezoora provides all plastic card payment option, as well as Cash on Delivery (COD); however, for global consumers, it offers only plastic card based payment options.
Speaking about idea behind launching consumer etailing site, Neha Verma, co-founder, Vezoora said, “We are already established in jewellery export business for 7 years with the name Titan Jewelers and Sizzling Silver in international market, so there was already a customer base. However, Vezoora is primarily for Indian customers who are missing handmade pieces of art”. Vezoora is different than other online retailers due to its variety of products and regular innovations in the product line. For example, no manufacturer or any other online shopping portals have jewellery with Gold Coated Drusy and Black Coated Drusy in India, the company informs.
With Vezoora’s ‘Create and Wear Concept’, customers can submit their designs and visit factory which is based in Jaipur and see their jewellery made in front of their eyes. At present, Vezoora has 66 members in the team, with 53 in the manufacturing unit. Founded by Neha Verma, Vijay Verma, and Vimal Kumar Vezoora, this has so far been a bootstrapped venture.
Vezoora has a host of business plans on the anvil, “We will be focussing on more fashion-related collaborations and participation in fashion weeks etc,” added Verma. The startup also plans to associate with the best Indian and international designers for more intricate designs best suitable to Indian market in gemstones.
