An Ahmedabad-based budding pharmaceutical entrepreneur's journey with Drugneed
Parth Patel is a Pharmacy student at the Nirma University in Ahmedabad. Exposed to the pharmaceutical industry at an early stage, Parth realized a few gaps in the industry. “There is a huge SME segment within healthcare that has products which are popular but need more marketing channels to take them to the masses,” says Parth. Recognizing this, he started up Drugneed, online mega health store. The company is already selling over 10,000 products and is associated with more than 1,000 companies. It is also helping small and medium manufacturers to sell their products online to more than 30+ eCommerce stores in India. "In our country, there are 3 million SMEs selling health-beauty-wellness products. We at Drugneed are working to bring them online and also support them in online marketing,” says Parth.
Focusing on the online front for a good one and a half years, Drugneed has also forayed into offline services like managing logistics, managing offline stores, distribution and setting up online stores for its vendors. “We also provide logistics management and distribution support to many large national and multinational companies in which we will manage the single orders and inquiries which the companies get through their website or customer care,” says Parth.
Based out of Ahmedabad, the company has recently moved into a business centre and employs 25 people at this stage. Drugneed has a strong presence on Facebook and about 1.5 lakh registered users. Drugneed has rather differentiated products on the portal and is doing more than 50 deliveries each day. An enterprising youngster behind the venture, the firm has sustained and grown over the past couple of years without any external funding. Drugneed has also made good inroads in he pharmacy industry and has the potential to scale up the venture to take it to the next step.
