[News in a Nutshell] From Golden Beat Pros, Timberman, Microsoft layoffs to Kickstarter 's 'Coolest'
Beats to gift World Cup winning German team 'Beat Pros' dipped in 24-carat gold.
Beats Electronics is well known for their 'guerrilla marketing' tactics to bypass licensing barriers. A few fans would have noticed that Neymar was sporting a pair of Beats Headsets as he stepped off the bus at the Castelao stadium of Fortaleza for Brazil's last training season on the eve of their match with Mexico. Similarly, Suarez had them wrapped around his neck as he joked with his Uruguay team mates during a break at a recent practice.
But FIFA has a licensing agreement with rival electronics maker Sony Corp, which meant that players have to take them off when they are in World Cup stadiums for official matches and media events.Marketing experts say that the fact that athletes use Beats in their downtime, by choice amplifies their appeal.
Beats is congratulating the victorious German team with a commemorative pair of headphones dipped in 24-carat gold.
All the members of the German team and manager Joachim Löw will be gifted the Golden Beats Pros. Beats describes them as 'the ultimate prize to go with the ultimate sporting victory.' The regular Beats Pro headphones retail for $399.95 and are designed 'for sound engineers, musicians, and those who take sound seriously.'
