Inside Scoop
Uber Bangalore’s GM, Bhavik Rathod said,
Uber users will be charged Rs. 700 for a minimum order of 2 sundaes by Haagen Dazs, so this is not a revenue generating activity. The activity is for creating an unique customer experience that delights our users by getting an Ice Cream at a push of a button.
Uber Partners(chauffeurs) are also delighted to deliver this unique experience and not taking it as an extra task. Here’s how to order your ice-cream via Uber today:
- Ice-Cream will be available from 11 AM to 5 PM, today(18 July) only
- To request, choose the Ice Cream option in the app. If a vehicle is available, you’ll be enjoying your desserts in minutes.
- Your order will be billed to your Uber account.
Users may share experience on Twitter and Instagram with #UberIceCream!
High Expectations!
Uber’s blog mentioned, “Demand will be very high and availability limited”, which seems like an overstatement given the specific nature of offer. Also, their global tagline for the campaign, “No matter where you are in the world, nothing captures the sweetness of a sunny afternoon better than ice cream.” might not come to be true due to prevailing cloudy weather across most parts of the country.

How has 2014 been for Uber in India?
UberX was launched recently and has been growing rapidly in all the 3 cities - Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad, claimed Bhavik. He further said,
The response and growth have been overwhelming. We are growing at a rapid pace and working very hard in further building our supply to fulfil the demand in all our cities. Over the past 6 months, we've been able to get the ETAs to almost 10 mins. In some cities like Bangalore, the ETAs are now below 10 mins. The efficiency Uber brings in has also helped increase driver earnings significantly who have partnered with Uber. Over the next 6 months, you would expect our supply to further grow at a rapid pace to further bring down our ETAs as well as increase the supply so more riders can enjoy the Uber experience, many have come to love and ride on regularly.
