Nagaland Minister for School Education and SCERT, Yitachu called upon the Chakhesang Naga youths to take the lead in bringing about social reformation to build up better human relationship and take the Naga society forward.
In old days Nagas were known as head-hunters and we used to fight to take each other's head to become heroes, but in the present day educated and civilized world, youths should take lead in changing the mindset, Yitachu said while addressing the 9th General Conference of Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) at Baptist Theological College Pfutsero in Phek district.
Nagas do not lack in anything as we have a very rich land, but the main cause of concern is that Nagas want to earn easy money without struggling, he said. Expressing that youths are the future and backbone of the society, he said that Naga youths should create awareness among the people to change the attitude and mindset of seeking government jobs, but to venture into entrepreneurship and corporate business.
Remarking that despite more than 50 years of statehood, Nagaland has still been not able to prosper and progress, the Minister said a strong political will was needed to bring about good governance and take the state forward towards development. Delving on the Naga political issue, the Minister said solution to the decades old political problem has been evading the Naga people "because we are divided and unless there is unity among the Naga people there cannot be genuine conclusion."
