[Techie Tuesdays] Your favourite Indian techies of 2015, voted by you
Last week, we asked you to vote for your favourite techies. The voting process is over and the response has been amazing. We had profiled techies from various fields and demographics who went on to achieve different things in life. It was very difficult for us to choose one techie from the list of over 40 we had profiled this year. But, based on the votes received, we bring you the top three techies who were close to the hearts of our readers and also three stories handpicked by our editors.
Ankush Tiwari:Ankush Tiwari comes from an army background, which helped him survive the corporate rut. Ankush started his career working on a web browser for MOTO RAZR and then moved on to Linux and CDMA technologies at Motorola. He later worked on LiMo, the first open-source operating system for mobiles. Android came into the picture later and LiMo became Tizen. Ankush co-founded Mobiliya. Amitabh Misra:Coming from Kanpur, which is also known as Manchester of the East, Amitabh worked his way to glory. With his growing impulse to pursue his dreams, he could not wait to achieve what he liked. He left his first company which was in the field of chemical engineering to join Infosys and moved to coding. He is the ex-CTO of Snapdeal and is credited with helping to scale up the platform successfully. Read more about Amitabh here.
Varun Aggarwal:Varun is the Founder of Aspiring Minds, the company behind AMCAT. Varun takes his inspiration from genetics to solve problems. He cares deeply about uprooting ragging in educational institutions. He started CURE (Coalition to Uproot Ragging in Education) in 2001 to tackle this menace. Vinodh Kumar:Vinodh is the reason we have Google News in vernacular. While working for Google, he convinced Marissa Mayer to launch Google News in local languages and it helped the readership of Google News grow manifold in India. Vinodh started his learning by building a compiler to understand how programming languages work. When he wanted to learn about operating systems, Vinodh designed his own operating system. Varun Khurana:Varun is the CTO of Grofers. Having spent most of his childhood outside India, Varun had seen enough of the world and did not need introduction to the Indian market either. Badrinath Kulkarni:Badrinath is the guy responsible for nurturing the Bengaluru Android community. He is the man behind Bangalore Android User Group with his apps being used by millions of people.
