Waking up at 5 am is the best decision you can make today!

Waking up at 5 am is the best decision you can make today!

Saturday April 15, 2017 , 3 min Read

I have been an early riser for as long as I can remember. Seeing the first rays of sunlight daily and waking up before anyone else does instils peace and composure throughout the day. It also ensures more productivity and a stress-free mind set.

Several night owls may claim they get a lot of work done during the wee hours of the night. But that is far from the truth. Just make a few changes to your daily routine and you will be surprised to see how much more work you are capable of completing by just waking up early. The challenge that people generally face is mentally preparing themselves to rise so early.

Here are a few reasons to encourage you to quit hitting the snooze button at 5 am:

You will be at your best

You put yourself first and be your best self. Mornings are the times when you can introspect and channelise your thoughts without any distraction. It also helps you towards the road to self-improvement and helps you pay attention to what you really want to do.

You feel like a winner

The saying ‘Well begun, half done’ applies here. When you start the day early, you truly feel a sense of accomplishment. The day ahead will already look brighter and even if something doesn’t turn out as expected, you would have already accomplished something to be proud of.

You will be in control of your day

You will be in control of your morning routine. Everyone’s routine is different. For some it might be meditating first thing in the morning. For others it might be writing a journal or jogging followed by making a hot cup of coffee. Whatever it is, waking up early helps you to be in control of your day.

You can experience peace and quiet

You aren’t interrupted at this time of the day. No one calls, texts, or e-mails, and hence you are at peace with yourself. The chaos and commotion is yet to begin. It is like treating yourself to something special. Why forfeit it when you can enjoy it daily?

Prioritise better

Imagine all those times when you simply wished you got half an hour to do something at leisure. Well believe it or not, waking up at 5 am gives you a whole two hours to prioritise and pursue anything you want to. Generally, all the activities start at around 7 to 7.30 am. That gives you two straight hours before you dive into the routine activities throughout day.

Because you want to

Slowly, you will fit yourself into this routine because you want to and not because you have to. It becomes addictive and enjoyable. You will realise that waking up early helps you to experience things you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Waking up so early might not be the easiest thing to do. However, the benefits are remarkable. But once you develop this habit and pursue this routine, the feeling of victory will be far beyond what you can imagine!
