ABHED now makes criminal investigation easy for the police

ABHED now makes criminal investigation easy for the police

Thursday June 01, 2017 , 2 min Read

With IT penetrating all aspects of our everyday lives, police officers do not have to write down everything they have about a criminal investigation.

With the help of the startup Staqu's artificial-intelligence based human efface detection (ABHED), Alwar police are all set to embrace technology in their investigation. The app will ensure that biometric information and registering a criminal offense can be done from any place. Rahul Prakash, SP of Alwar Police Department, told the Times Now,

Technology is quickly seeping into our everyday lives and it was only a matter of time before the police department also joined the wave of digitalization and innovation. It has been an enriching experience—collaborating with Staqu and commissioning the unique pilot program that helps in maintaining digital records of criminals or missing people, and via advanced technology, helps in searching for the same.

Fingerprint matching, missing person search, and other similar functions are expected to become more efficient with the app. It would also provide matching details from the criminal database in seconds.

Additionally, with the information available like images of the suspect and fingerprints, criminal searches can be performed easily. All this can be accessed with just a login password for the app, with mobile numbers of the respective police officers. According to IANS, the additional SP, Paras Jain said,

Our officers are really excited to have such a tool at their disposal. With its ease of searching, our investigation process will become extremely effective.

The app was launched on 27 May as a pilot project. For now, it is available in English and Hindi and can be extended to other languages in future.
