[PhotoSparks] Creativity in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout, home to startups – and the Third Eye art gallery

Sunday June 25, 2017 , 2 min Read

PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In this two-part pictorial essay, we showcase the works of some of the emerging artists at the Gallery Third Eye in HSR Layout, Bengaluru.

In the earlier 140 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from an art fair, world music festival, painting fair, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, math museum, social hackathon, bookstore, co-working space, sensorium, design week, flower show, startup roadshow, computer museum, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, Vesak, jazz festival, modern art gallery, ecopreneurs, painter-poets, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators.

Bengaluru neighbourhoods such as Indiranagar, Koramangala and HSR Layout are becoming startup hubs in their own right, or a ‘city within a city.’ HSR Layout is also home to a new crop of art galleries such as Third Eye, displaying and promoting the works of over 50 artists.

Founded in 2011 by Jasmine Khanna, the artist profile of Gallery Third Eye includes Jaya Srinivasan, Swapan Sarkar, Manoj Aher, Ananda Das, Sunita Deshpande, Mini Arora, Prateek Sabharwal, Shan Re, Vishalandra Dakur, Ram Onkar, Bharati Sagar, Vijay Nagvekar and others. Their works have provided inspiration, rejuvenation, and joy to scores of viewers and buyers at the gallery.

The curated exhibitions over the years have been titled with catchy names: Carnival of Colours, Elements of Abstraction, Summer Sensation, Cultural Connections, Harmony with Art, Labyrinth of Abstraction, Beyond Borders, Figuratively Speaking, Rhythm of Colour, Portal to Enigma, and Walkways into Memory.

The compact gallery leaves visitors with a sense of awe at the vibrancy, sensitivity and richness of Indian art. Check out this week’s photo essay for the wide range of styles and messages at Gallery Third Eye.

The gallery aims to bring affordable and aesthetic works from emerging artists to a new range of consumers in Bengaluru’s booming economy. So what have you done this week to engage with art and discover new styles and practitioners?
