Strengthening ties – using social media to connect with prospects

Wednesday October 25, 2017 , 3 min Read

With the world of social media quickly evolving, it has become a foremost medium for making an impression or forging meaningful connections with prospects and existing customers. Networking and relationships are fundamental for any business entity; hence it is crucial to ensure the connections you make are genuine. But with users constantly shifting their focus from one platform to another, it can get difficult to hold their attention and keep them coming back for more.

Here's how you can make meaningful connections with your prospects on social media.

Create a genuine brand voice

The simplest way to get users to develop faith in your brand is by creating an authentic voice for your brand. Start by identifying what your brand stands for. Is your brand fun or is it more knowledgeable and serious? Once you've identified that, talk to your users on social media in the same voice. Your audience needs to know you are sincere if you want them to stick with you across several platforms.

Start discussions

Create your posts and updates in such a way that they elicit response from your users and followers. When you post an update on a social networking platform, you open yourself to comments and discussions. These comments not only give you an insight into your current and potential consumers, but they also present the opportunity for you to have a dialogue with them.

Focus on your customers, not your product

It is alright to promote your product once in a while on your social media pages, but don't make your social profiles look like an advertising catalogue for your brand. Focus on your customers instead of your product on social media. Before posting an update, give a thought to what kind of information your customers are looking for. When you provide meaningful information, you are more likely to forge meaningful relations with your prospects.

Ask for constructive feedback

Instead of constantly promoting your products on social media, ask your customers to share their feedback about your product. This serves a two-fold purpose. You not only show your customers that you care what they think, but you also find ways to improve your product.

Take your customers behind the scenes

People love feeling included. This is especially true when it comes to the daily functioning of their favorite brand. Take your customers and prospects behind-the-scenes through Facebook Live or Instagram videos and give them a sneak peek into your latest collection. This way you'll build excitement for your upcoming launch and you'll also give your prospects a reason to keep coming back for more.

If you want to increase brand visibility and reach, establish meaningful connections with your prospects on social media. Use the above mentioned five tips to help you get started in the right direction.
