Bikxie announces women-only services, PictureTime, Aarav Unmanned Systems raise funds
Bikxie, a two-wheeler taxi service provider announced the ‘soft launch’ of its women-only service Bikxie Pink in Delhi on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2018. A first-of-its-kind service in the national capital, Bikxie Pink offers a fleet of electric scooters exclusively driven by women and for women.
At the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in November 2017, discussions around women's entrepreneurship challenges had taken centre-stage. At the end of the three-day summit, NITI Aayog had promised measures to boost the ecosystem for women entrepreneurs in India. CEO Amitabh Kant has delivered on the promise made by the think-tank by unveiling a Women's Entrepreneurship platform on International Women’s Day.
Aarav Unmanned Systems has raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-Series A round led by GrowX Ventures, 500 Startups and Bellwether advisors. Existing investors 3one4 Capital, StartupXseed and angel investor Sanjay Jesrani too participated in this round of funding.
PictureTime, a mobile digital movie theatre startup, has secured Rs 25 crore at an undisclosed valuation in a Pre-Series A financing round from a group of HNIs led by Ajay Relan, Founder Chairman of CX Partners. This follows an initial seed funding by PictureTime Chairman Rohit Chand, Ashish Gupta, and Sanjeev Aggarwal of Helion Ventures, Asim Ghosh (ex-Vodafone India CEO), and Abhinav Sinha of Eight Road Ventures.
Airbus and its subsidiary Navblue announced signing contracts with two Indian startups — Neewee and Eflight — for providing solutions to the European aircraft maker’s manufacturing programmes that are also in line with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ initiatives.
Twenty-six-year-old Arvind Sanjeev has come up with a solution where people can feel immersed in VR in their natural space without using headsets. Lumen, the technology developed by Arvind, is a Mixed Reality storytelling platform that challenges the trend of social isolation. Giving examples of its use cases, Arvind says this technology can be used in museums or even direct a user on the road to their destination.
