Nokia 8.1 launches with dual Zeiss lenses and a fullHD+ display
At the heels of its Nokia 7.1 launch, HMD Global releases its new flagship phone Nokia 8.1, with a HDR-10 compliant FHD display and dual Zeiss lenses.
Like every Nokia launch, parent company HMD Global announced the launch of its new smartphone, Nokia 8.1, with great pomp and show. The device was launched by HMD Global’s Senior Product Manager, Juha Werkkala at Delhi’s Mehurali grounds.
Just a few weeks ago, the company launched the Nokia 7.1, and in August, it also launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
“After the launches we thought of going deeper and understanding if we can launch a device better than what is there, with better battery life, images and camera,” said Juha.
The new Nokia 8.1 is HDR-10 compliant with a fullHD+ display. The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and comes with Android 9.0 Pie.
“Backed by a two-day battery life, the phone has a 3,500 mAh battery and 18W fast charging,” explained Juha.
The focus of the new device is definitely on its camera. With a Sony IMX 363 sensor, the phone boasts of a strong imaging setup. The Nokia 8.1 has dual face detection focus with fast focus, a 6 piece optics for optical stabilisation and also better focus in low light.
“The Nokia 8.1 also has imaging signal processing of Spectra 260. We are focusing on more artistic pics, with 13 megapixels sensor for depth imaging. We have an integrated AI engine for focus detection, scene and image detection. There also is a 20 MP front camera, adaptive sensor capacity for dim light setting,” said Juha.
For better video quality, the Nokia 8.1 also has a 4K ultra imaging video and supports audio recordings. Priced at Rs 26,999 for a 4GB/64GB variant, HMD will soon release a 6GB/128GB model as well. Nokia 8.1 comes with biometric security, face unlock and a rear fingerprint scanner.
