JioGenNext launches Basecamp to bring new startup ideas to life

JioGenNext launches Basecamp to bring new startup ideas to life

Wednesday March 06, 2019 , 2 min Read

Basecamp will fill the gap between incubator ideas and the accelerator programme. Accelerator programmes require “traction”. However, several startups aren’t able to convert their innovative ideas into traction due to lack of a more basic understanding of building a valuable business.

In Basecamp, founders will be coached by practitioners on how to build a startup, which can provide a valuable product or service that checks on all the parameters of the ASSURED framework.

What is the ASSURED Framework?

ASSURED is a mindset that can outlast competition and market trends. Here is a breakdown of ASSURED:

Affordability – Is your startup going to offer a product or service that can offer solutions to customers at affordable prices?

Scalability – Is your technology and business model designed to serve millions of customers?

Sustainability – Will you burn cash and burn out OR are you focusing on building a profitable and long-lasting business?

Universality – Are you building a product/service only to serve Indian customers, or can it serve a worldwide customer base?

Rapid – Do you know how to execute flawlessly and at great speed?

Excellence – Are you focusing on quality or is it just JUGAAD?

Distinctiveness – Are you sure what you are offering is unique?

The April ’19 batch of Basecamp will focus on building new startups for the Fintech sector. Ideally, the startup needs to have a team of two or more founders with a sales and technology combination.

While not necessary, Basecamp is encouraging founders with some domain expertise in Financial Services, to apply for this programme, since this is a space that needs some basic understanding of the market, regulatory dynamics, and the current state of technology.

This is an equity-free residence-learning programme of 4 weeks and founders will work hands-on with practitioners in building their first fundable business plan based on the ASSURED framework. Practitioners include successful entrepreneurs, leading experts and accomplished industry executives. The workshops will include 1-to-many sessions plus 1:1 office hours with leading practitioners.

The programme will commence on April 22nd, 2019 and a Demo Day will be held in the last week of May 2019. The Demo Day will be attended by leading corporates and early-stage investors in India.

So, if you have a startup idea/product and a desire to build a big Fintech business, Basecamp is the right programme for you.
