BharatPe appoints ex-Paytm exec Ajit Kumar as CTO
Pankaj Goel, the previous Chief Technology Officer at BharatPe, has stepped down from his role after a tenure of nearly two years due to personal reasons.
BharatPe, the Indian financial services and UPI payments platform, has appointed Ajit Kumar as its Chief Technology Officer as it looks to expand and strengthen its technology and product infrastructure.
Kumar, who joins from Paytm where he served as Senior Vice President of Engineering, will oversee BharatPe’s technology strategy and innovation roadmap. The company said he will be responsible for scaling its payments and lending platforms with a focus on reliability and product excellence.
“We are delighted to welcome Ajit to the BharatPe leadership team,” said Nalin Negi, Chief Executive Officer of BharatPe. “His proven experience in building scalable fintech platforms and his deep understanding of payments and UPI infrastructure will be instrumental as we continue to innovate and strengthen our technology stack.”
With more than 19 years of experience, Kumar has previously held senior technology roles at Snapdeal, Times Internet and SAP Labs.

Pankaj Goel, the previous Chief Technology Officer at BharatPe, has stepped down from his role after a tenure of nearly two years due to personal reasons, YourStory had reported. The former CTO had joined BharatPe after a prominent stint at Razorpay, where he served as senior vice president and head of payments engineering out of Bengaluru.
Recently, BharatPe had also expanded its top management with the appointment of Rajesh C as Head of Finance and Himanshu Nazkani as Head of Investments.
Rajesh, who previously served as Senior Vice President-Finance at SBI Card, will oversee the company’s finance function, treasury, and taxation.
Himanshu Nazkani joins from CarDekho Group, where he was Vice President of Strategy and led initiatives spanning artificial intelligence, mergers and acquisitions, and value creation. He will lead BharatPe’s investments and insurance strategy, with a mandate to build partnerships and scale offerings across mutual funds, digital gold, fixed deposits and insurance.
