KANPUR: "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao" seems to have no considerable impact on people's minds when they deem it fit to marry their daughter and think a fig for providing a complete education. Queer it appears indeed that the guardians are more determined to fulfil their daughters' requirements of the fashion in daily life and hanker after procuring them the latest dresses, gadgets and models of two-wheelers.

While their attention does not turn towards providing them with a better education in order to prepare them a good citizen. Despite girls' interest increasing towards obtaining every kind of education, there is no dearth of the parents sticking to age-old traditional thinking. They begin to consider like traditional human beings who stoop to spend their enough time in the worry of marrying them as early as they can possibly do. They think this option more important than the completion of education.

In that case, the parents become selfish. It is owing to this very practical reason they are goading their girls to make up their minds for the marriage first. When the wedding is arranged, the parents try to stress of their journey for the moon has completed. They rarely viewed if a girl completes her education up to the graduation level, she will be benefitted by its usefulness till her last breath. Such parents are rarely found in our society.

Capturing a different kind of intentions, the parents decided to marry their girl despite knowing the very fact of her examinations just round the corner. She even beseeched them for postponement of the date but her voice was lost in the oblivion. How was such case revealed? It was known only by looking at the girl's marriage invitation card. When the parents were approached to gather reality behind the matter, their single answer was no compromise with the wedding.

Sitting along with her companions the girl bemoaned for a length of time and later compromised with her fate. She forgot of her deep interest in completing her graduation which she kept hiding in her heart for a long time. She concluded what if failed in achieving a degree from the University. The reality of life is totally different.

Her parents helped her to change her views towards the life. How sagacious it will be if the amounts expended on the wedding is spent on girls' education and dowry should be fully eradicated with some forceful provisions in the rules. Though the government is heading in the direction of thriftiness on marriages, there is still a lot to be initiated.

It was indeed very perplexing that the parents' blocked the chance of their youngest daughter to appear at the final year’s examination. Though the girl was desperate for appearing at the examination, she was restricted from undertaking this noble need. Two reasons were circulated. One being the marriage hall was available on the examination date and another version was a denial of extending the date on the part of the groom's family. Therefore there was left no opportunity for the poor girl to appear at the graduate level examination.

It meant she had sacrificed the single route to secure graduation degree. She missed a golden opportunity for completing her graduation. The girl, at last, had to bemoan her bad luck for failure in gaining a commerce stream degree from Kanpur University. Those parents followed an indifferent line for the girl whom he once and for all sincerely and singly endeared. It was a great deal of more exaggerative than it is compassionate. The parents did not entertain their daughter's wishes in regard to the didactic accomplishments. The girl appeared prostrated before her parents' whims.

Her dream shattered in endless arguments. She even had deposited her exam fee much earlier. Unfortunately, her normal goal could not be attained. Though she did not deny her being a very studious girl but clearing the initial two stages heightened her hidden curiosity to reach the final stage. She maintained, “How nice it would have been if she had also put up the particular cap and the traditional robe with her degree in her hand. But she was not destined to be photographed in that way.”

In a way, she seemed to have been denied her right to take a decision on her own self.  Her parents preferred her to step into the domestic life despite the prevalent reality of women exceeding men in educational institutions. Not only is this but they are also reaching also in space, army battalions, science laboratories, surgical teams and running heavy vehicles. Notwithstanding, we tell the girls to do anything but falter in helping them achieve their goal. If not everyone but scores of us is surrounded by the burden of our hoary past.

It is because of such notion these strayed people do not accept what they are implored to follow for betterment in the society. It was a big deal for the parents but a great ordeal for the girl. This brazen illogical situation is a hint towards that pretty sense of social preference which stops the girls to equip with the educational power. Such an unwisely attitude can be termed as the only serious outstanding sin of the society though it certainly has a hundred lively good characteristics. When will the girls get rid of the paroxysm for being slandered as untaught, uneducated and unwise behind the conventional symbolism?
