Propagating the new Mantra – waste to energy!
Analyzing the environmental conditions in the nearing future, ORS in the year 2008, focused on acquiring, adapting and developing Green Technologies to provide sustainable urban waste management solutions of the country. Our aim is to become the single largest project developer in urban waste management sector in next few years for mitigating environmental challenges.
Indian waste comprises of mixed nature. We don't segregate but put everything into same waste like plastics, batteries, kitchen waste, and so on. Keeping this in mind, ORS has developed the first of its kind indigenous technology for treating both mixed and segregate waste that suits our climatic and environmental conditions. Hence, in our endeavor to provide an environmental friendly solution for treatment of municipal solid waste, we have developed our patented DRYAD™ – Anaerobic Digester Technology based on the principles of Thermophilic biomethanation.
The emission levels during recycling are almost zero thus making the technology environment friendly. The slurry left behind, after the generation of electricity through this process, is used to make organic compost and sold to the fertilizer companies. This indigenous technology and product developed by ORS has been acknowledged and appreciated by Ministry of Urban Development under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Currently, ORS is processing waste at their project based out of Solapur (400 TPD) generating and supplying electricity to the respective state grid and selling quality compost to fertilizer plants. After successfully implementing decentralized processing unit at Pune, ORS has now launched plug and play ‘Yasasu Green’ product at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. This product was launched with an aim to bring the concept of treatment at source and reducing the burden of transportation of waste, thereby providing the benefits of the outputs to citizens directly. Here, DRYAD technology is used to process bio-degradable waste that helps in generating biogas and organic compost.
ORS has been successfully utilizing anaerobic digestion technology to generate 1 megawatt of power with every 100 tons of waste recycled. ORS converts waste into electricity and have introduced leading innovative technologies suitable in Indian environment. The compost generated through this technology meets high quality and is as per FCO certification.
In addition to this, under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, ORS shall soon supply, install and operate and maintain 10 pre-fabricated containerized waste to biogas / bio manure plant, each of 5000 kg (5 ton) feed capacity at Prime Minister Hon’ Narendra Modi’s constituency in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The units have a capacity to treat 5 tons of organic city waste and would generate enough electricity to illuminate 200 street lights per day from each unit for 12 hours.
We look forward in implementing more such products and services in various residential, commercial, industrial zones etc with an aim to use waste as a resource and to zero down the burden on Mother Nature.
