How to clean fine Jewellery

Monday August 14, 2017 , 2 min Read

When you invest in fine jewellery such as an engagement ring, wedding ring or a beautiful piece of pearl jewellery or dress jewellery you wish for it to last a lifetime. In order for your jewellery to continue to look beautiful for years to come, simply adopt a habit of tender love and care towards your jewellery at home, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and remember to have your jewellery professionally cleaned and checked annually.

Harsh household cleaning products, hairspray and nail polish remover can all deteriorate the beautiful finish of your jewellery and leave your diamonds and gemstones appearing dull and lifeless. To keep your diamonds sparkling with brilliance gently scrub with an old toothbrush whilst immersed in warm, soapy water. Concentrate on the area behind the stone, this is where lots of dirt can build up. Remember to rinse with warm water well afterwards.

Always store your jewellery with care and avoid wearing your jewels when engaging in housework or sports activities. When removing your jewellery have a safe place where you routinely place them, whether it be a pouch, box or for example when doing the dishes, a small dish close by that you always place them. And, lastly, always store your jewellery separately to avoid unwanted marks and scratches.
