Gujarat’s Vibrant Summit 2019 to focus on boosting MSME access to global markets
During the Vibrant Summit 2019 , which will be held in Gujarat from January 18 to 20, the state government plans to hold a convention on micro, small and medium enterprises to help them access international markets, according to media reports.
D Thara, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), said, "There are lots of issues with the development of MSMEs, but the main problem is how to access the market. There are lots of big companies coming to Gujarat and we want the MSMEs to gain from it. The two-day convention will provide a platform to them."
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will be inaugurating the MSME convention on January 19. Even in the past, the Gujarat government had claimed to commit itself to MSME development. Thara added, “We will be having a Vendor Development Programme during the convention which will provide a glimpse into the manufacturing capabilities of our MSMEs. The programme is being organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) where Gujarat government will act as as facilitator.”
The inaugural session will feature international, national and state chambers of commerce. The summit plans to create opportunities for increased international business, technology transfer and long term business tie-ups, especially for MSMEs at the conclave. There will also be a technical session, which will feature discussions on design technology and management, credit and finance, and marketing and positioning in global value chains innovations.
Reports suggest that 53 international, 30 national and various state chambers will participate in the summit. Representatives from the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Taiwan Computer Association, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), US-India Business Council, BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) will also be present.
