Since last year, Jayjit Biswas has grown into a well-known figure in certain Indian Web3 communities.

In February 2022, Jayjit started Elite Web3 Forum, a popular WhatsApp forum dedicated to the subject. Today, the community has grown to 700+ blockchain experts, founders, legal experts, and more.

Despite being born into a middle-class family in Kolkata where several members had a genetic disorder, including himself, his grandfather, father, and many uncles, Jayjit was determined to make a name for himself in the tech industry.

"I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world of technology and I was determined to not let my physical limitations hold me back," he says.

With this community, the primary goal is to spread knowledge and awareness around Web3, with the eventual goal of assisting regulators to create progressive laws around crypto.

Early days in information security

Jayjit’s business journey began in 2000 when he mixed with the Big 4 firms after studying chartered accountancy, and opening the Kolkata ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) Chapter, which focuses on IT audit and assurance.

Jayjit, who did not have a CISA degree at the time, says he passed the CISA exam in 2001 and held ISACA chapter office for two years in a row. He adds that he played a key role in starting the IS audit movement in the early days of 2000-2001.

"I realised that I needed to continuously upgrade my skills and knowledge to stay relevant in the tech industry. The ISACA chapter was a great platform for me to do that," he says.

In the following years, Jayjit's interest in technology continued to grow, and he found himself increasingly drawn to the world of Web3.

"I could see the potential that Web3 and blockchain technology had to revolutionise the way we live and work, and I wanted to be a part of that," he says.

After he launched a forum dedicated to the topic, it quickly gained popularity among industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. The forum serves as a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and networking within the Web3 community.

"I wanted to create a space where people could come together and share their ideas, insights, and experiences. The response has been overwhelming and I'm thrilled to see the community continue to grow," he adds.

The community comprises several blockchain and crypto experts, banking and finance professionals, cybersecurity experts, economists, Web3 founders, information and information security officers, chartered accountants, lawyers, and journalists.

At present, the forum sees frequent discussions on the latest developments in Web3 and blockchain technology. It features a wide range of topics, including smart contract development, decentralised finance, and the future of the internet.

It also hosts meetups and events, which provide a valuable opportunity for members of the community to connect and share their expertise.

In addition to his work with the Web3 forum, Jayjit also has experience working with large companies.

One example is his time spent at Tata Group. During his tenure, Jayjit has been working as a consultant and advisor, helping the company navigate the landscape of technology and innovation.

He claims he worked on several projects related to blockchain, smart contracts, and other Web3 technologies, helping Tata to stay at the forefront of the industry. He currently leads IT controls and body control modules (BCM) at Tata Motors.

"I believe that Web3 and blockchain technology have the potential to change the world for the better, and it's important that we have a platform to discuss these developments and share knowledge," he says.

Jayjit hopes his personal journey can become an inspiration to many, particularly to those who may face similar challenges.

"I want to show people that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. I may have faced some obstacles in my life, but I never let them stop me from achieving my goals," he says.
