View Company ProfileRebel Foods is a restaurant-based company that operates in India. Founded in the year of 2011 by Kallol Banerjee and Jaydeep Barman and headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, they were initially a physical restaurant chain and provided their customers with the option of ordering their meals online.
After launching their very first cloud kitchen, they went on to launch an exclusive cloud kitchen-based business the very next year. Functioning under them they have 11 brands, including the likes of Behrouz Biriyani, Oven Story, and Sweet Truth.
In 2018, they established the Rebel Launcher Program which aided with the process of outsourcing their cloud kitchens to other restaurant-based franchises.
In 2020 the company went on to establish Eatsure, a food delivery service. Through this venture, they put to use existing professional relations with various food chains. They went on to operate food trucks across the country, branding the venture as EatSure Express. In December of the same year, they signed a partnership with the American fast-food restaurant chain Wendy’s, enabling them to operate more than 200 of their cloud kitchen outlets in India.
In recent developments, this year the Mumbai-based startup laid off 2 % of its workforce owing to an annual performance evaluation.
The company’s stakeholders include Lightbox Ventures, Qatar Investment Authority, and Sequoia Capital. With more than 350 cloud kitchen ventures in 70 cities across India, UAE, UK, and Singapore (amongst others), they remain one of the largest cloud kitchen operating restaurant chains in the world.
