#NoFilter: Prableen Kaur Bhomrah on being a skin/body positive influencer
In a conversation with YourStory’s Influencers Inc, skin and body positive influencer Prableen Kaur Bhomrah talks about her journey through the content world and discusses her big plans for the future.
Fashion and beauty influencers are in abundance but what’s rare is one who is both a body and skin positive fashion and beauty influencer. Meet Prableen Kaur Bhomrah, a YouTuber and content creator, who is known for her unfiltered and real approach to beauty.
Prableen makes inspiring content for her audience across the country and beyond, which includes 200,000 followers on Instagram and more than over 60,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Speaking on her journey of realising the importance of skin positivity, Prableen says it started during her teenage years when she had to deal with a lot of acne. Then, she was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), which led to her receiving a lot of mean comments and criticisms on social media because of the way she looked and the visible acne on her skin.
Eventually, she realised that she needed to be real with her audience.
“When you meet someone in person, you want to meet the real person and that is what I wanted to be on camera,” she mentions.
She posted her first picture with the hashtag - #nofilterwithpkb, which went viral and many people started relating to her. This particular campaign helped her to build a strong community on the internet.
“Beauty is confidence for me, which and I got after embracing my true self,” says Prableen.
In terms of planning, she shares that she does not have a fixed content calendar. She says that her ideas flow at random, depending upon her mood and what she wants to talk about at that very moment. However, she adds that she likes to keep a balance between skin/body positivity, makeup, and fashion as her content is a mixture of it all.
Her moment in the sun came when one of her followers sent her a screenshot of a Google search around “skin positive influencers in the world”, which included Prableen.
“That is when I understood that people are actually consuming my content, and are feeling motivated and inspired,” she shares.
When asked about the branding and monetisation aspect of content creation, Prableen says that it has been fairly simple for her, adding “I have been lucky enough to work with many brands.,”
Lastly, Prableen shares that in future, she intends on taking the skin and body positive movement to a global level. Apart from that, she also dreams of building her own brand someday.
