Online portals are increasingly common as a solution to bridging distances, ideas, and people. InfoDev covers a new portal – TechPedia – which focuses on highlighting technology projects from students in order to link new ideas to industry and grassroots innovators. Instead of letting a fresh new idea or research go unheard of, the portal encourages students to come up with original solutions knowing that their efforts may actually be picked up by someone in the field.
This portal will give stimulus for investment in such startups promoting entrepreneurship, as well as further motivate the students who work in teams within or across the institutions to address the problems of micro and small enterprises.
By linking academia and industry, TechPedia offers a practical twist to university studies. This may help strengthen overall research and development in sectors that need it, and give students a direct connection to a fertile testing ground for their new solutions.
The portal originates from the NGO SRISTI, which was started by Professor Anil Gupta of IIM-A.
