And to achieve this Intellectual Property (IP) Policy Makers have to be sensitised. Industry should also create facilitation cells to create the vital linkages and have multiplier effect for large scale dissemination of tools and techniques for MSME. Learning to Innovate and adopt effective tools to identify, leverage  Intellectual Property for Business Growth is one of the key challenges confronting the growth and development of MSME in India. We need to focus on IP Development tools in large scale, with greater Involvement. Synergistic efforts of Policy Makers, Experts, Industry & facilitating bodies across the Country will make MSMEs to deploy IP according to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Promotion of innovation and cutting edge Technology, (as revealed by 58% of the MSME respondents of CII MSME Survey) is essential for repositioning of the Indian MSMEs in the changing global scenario.

India has made giant strides in modernizing the IP Laws & Administrative system. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) represent over 90% of enterprises in most countries. They are the driving force behind a large number of innovations and contribute to the growth of the national economy through employment creation, investments and exports. Despite the importance of SMEs for the vitality of the economy and the potential offered by the IP system for enhancing SMEs competitiveness, SMEs often underutilize the IP system

A National plan for IP Interventions with coordination from state level agencies is expected to be unveiled at India National Conference on Intellectual Property for MSMEs, Policy Maker & Facilitation centers being organized by CII in collaboration with WIPO and Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, (MoMSME) on 19 October 2010 in New Delhi.

CII will also be shortly opening up Intellectual Property Facilitation Cell in Mysore & Indore with the support of MoMSME This will be deriving Technical expertise from the IPFC at CII –APTDC at Hyderabad.
