CommonFloor.com is an innovative online service property search, apartment and vendor management service that caters to an individual’s complete residential requirements. The recent addition of a new map based search feature for property buying and renting enables users to locate properties on a map, in addition to a keyword based search. Launched in 2007 by Sumit Jain, Lalit Mangal and Vikas Malpani, one can use CommonFloor for various services ranging from searching for an apartment to facilitating interactions within an apartment community on the ‘common floor’ platform, to connecting one to relevant service providers, the portal is dedicated to meeting all aspects of consumers’ needs around their home. The newly introduced map based search provides a single, accrued view of the area or locality that a user is scanning to buy or rent property. It considerably reduces the number of searches as compared to the traditional method of key word based search. The feature directly addresses the need to identify properties in locations that one cannot visit. When a buyer is searching for property in another city or region which he or she may not know well, the map based search helps in locating the right kind of property given his or her requirements, without having to call people / agents or travel to the region. A clear knowledge of the proximity of key establishments like airports, railway stations, hospitals and schools is available. This aids easier decision making on the choice of property.

According to Sumit Jain, Co-founder and CEO, CommonFloor, “At CommonFloor, we have always been committed to providing the best user experience to our customers, not only in terms of comprehensive realty listings and information, but also through ease of use and better design. The map based search feature will aid our users in a faster and more defined search for properties across India and we are confident that customers will find this extremely useful.”

Commonfloor is currently present in 120 cities and has over 35,000 communities listed with it, which constitutes more than 25 Lakh homes. The company has been funded by Accel Partners.
