Ever since the dawn of the internet age, people stopped asking around for things. All one needs to hop on to the net and the information is available. Harnessing this power, Plannto, promises to be a one-stop site to know everything about the product that you own or are planning to buy. It provides a platform for connecting experts, owners, buyers and sellers around a product or an interest. Users can network around product/interest and share their knowledge on it. Knowledge shared between them is captured in a structured way so that it is available to users easily at right time, when they are actually looking for that information.
“We are trying to implement intention economy by building a platform for users to share knowledge around products/interest that will help them make purchase decisions. As part of that process we are also capturing the intentions (of buying a product) of people that can help connect the right people to the right services,” says Saravana Kumar, Founder, Plannto.

Plannto was started two years back, but for Kumar the passion to do something on his own has been there since his college days. Before he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey, Kumar has worked for over 12 years in product development with the likes of Microsoft, SunGard, HP and LightPharma. The Plannto engineering team is spread across various regions; developers in Mangalore, data experts in Chennai and user interface design team in Udaipur.

Owners can follow the products they own, know how to use products effectively and even know the latest news about those products. Users on Plannto can also talk to other owners or experts to share the knowledge about the product or discuss any issues they may have with that particular product. Apart from product knowledge, users can also follow various topics based on their interest associated to that product. For example, landscape photography, bird photography, cycling training and iPhones among others. Besides users, experts can also follow various products/topics based on their interest and expertise. They can also assist buyers in deciding the right product as well as network with other experts. Users can search available products and upcoming products, compare products, read buying guides and reviews, check out deals on each product and talk to owners/buyers of the product to make an informed decision about which product to buy. Currently, PlannTo plans to have information on cars, bikes, cycles, mobiles, tablets and cameras/photography on the site.

When we surfed around the site and mentioned that we own an iPad, the website listed updates about the iTunes store going live in India, the review of iPad mini, and an update about the new GMail app for iPad and iPhones.
