[Culture Series] Lenskart - A Place For The Young & Spirited
This article is a part of the Culture Series we are carrying as a run up to the Startup Jobs Fair, India’s first exclusive campaign to connect the most promising talent with the most exciting startups. This series will bring out the culture of some of the most dynamic startups that have managed to scale and make a mark. Today we are showcasing Lenskart...
Peyush Bansal (CEO & Founder), Amit Chaudhary (Co-founder) and Sumeet Kapahi (Co-founder) launched Lenskart in October 2010 with a vision to "create value using Internet" and today this unique venture of selling eyewear online has become a huge success. At a time when people were just wondering whether they would buy anything other than books online, this duo managed to sell eyewear online!
With a ‘vision’ to change consumer habits and harness the power of Internet, the duo toiled hard, got VC funded, recruited people from reputed institutions like IITs, IIMs, and built an awesome team at their office in Okhla, New Delhi. Now, they're looking to expand their core strength by getting new people on board at the Startup Jobs Fair.
So what makes Lenskart a great place to work?
A typical day at Lenskart office is a roller coaster ride. There is the thrill of creating something new each day, the satisfaction of making one more customer ‘a happy customer’ each day and then, there is a dream of becoming even bigger the next day.
The team is driven by the motto of bringing value to every internet user and the first step in the process it to bring value to its internal customers…the employees! Peyush, understands the importance of building a culture that gives due importance to employees, and considers them the company's biggest asset. They are provided the flexibility and innovative spirit of a startup environment with the security and stability of an established company. Flexible work options such as flexi-holiday plans (where employees decide their holidays and not the company) and work from home are some of the other perks. There are free snacks and subsidised meals for employees. And then there is music, games and parties to help them unwind. “Employees are given the opportunity to learn through experiential learning and at the same time through training programmes, certifications and seminars,” adds Namita, Lead - Human Capital.
The 100+ strong team at the Okhla office is looking for colleagues and Lenskart has plans to add another 50 members to its team.
