CorrZ, helping build business on the power of big data
Data analysis is a gold mine to determine consumer behaviour on the world wide web. Telecom, eCommerce companies and retailers are flooded with the data generated by their customers. This data needs to be captured in a proper manner before organizing and analysing it. Bangalore based Mu Sigma is one such data analytics company dealing with clients in India and abroad. Every year India is generating a huge pool of data from many industries structured around digital ecosystem and thiss create a market for other players to dive in and provide valuable insights to corporates on data initiatives.
Manish Gupta’s CorrZ is one such data analytics company working with financial clients in the country. Founded in mid 2012, the startup provides data analysis, helps organizations take information driven decisions through user profiling, customer preferences, marketing optimization, product pricing, product enhancements, sale force roaster etc. CorrZ helps businesses anticipate the changes in the market and how they can adapt the same to increase their profitability. In our conversation with Manish he shares his thoughts about the state of data processing in different companies. He says, data processing in many enterprises is still carried on the basis of intuition rather than visualizing hard data. “We as data analysers help the internet and eCommerce centered companies to typecaste their customer, in a manner similar to what is done by a shop owner in his store. We determine what the users are buying, what percentage of users are using certain products, how they can optimize certain marketing channel to their benefit, what products should be included in their inventory among other services,” explains Manish.
CorrZ is a young organization but has experienced statisticians in their team. Manish the founder and CEO is an experienced product and technology professional with over 12 years industry experience. Prior to CorrZ, he had held important positions at Mobisoc, Globallogic among others. He has done his MBA and completed M. Tech from IIT Delhi. Rashi Gupta and Neerja Aggarwal are the other co-founders of the company. Rashi has a Ph. D in biometry and carries the responsibility of Lead Data Scientist at CorrZ, while Neerja, also a Ph.D in Economics from University of California, serves as Econometrician at CorrZ. A strong team of applied statisticians, business and product management team has helped CorrZ in providing descriptive analysis using different regressions to their clients. With offices at Noida and California the startup has a team of five people and have served around six clients todate, including a petroleum company based out of Oman.In our conversation Manish also mentioned that they tend to look for companies who have been existing for atleast five year before working to refine their data. Data generation has increased in the Indian industries and companies over the past few years but these companies are not deploying enough tools to generate insights for the same. And as a startup CorrZ faces many hurdles convincing these companies, Manish shares in his words: “On a common note there are two kinds of personnels we meet, one who has never interacted and are sceptical with data analysis and the other who have a fair experience with the same. Convincing the former of the power of data analytics is a touch difficult. Since we have to explain them the whole theory from ground up. While for the latter we have have to convince them of our capabilities as a young startup.” With a strong team from computer science and applied statistics background, CorrZ intends to help organizations as diverse as telecom to online portals to genomics in understanding data better.
