Gurgaon based TheShoppingPro raises angel round from a group of serial entrepreneurs

Wednesday July 24, 2013 , 2 min Read

Gurgaon based Intelligent Shoppro Pvt Ltd, which creates innovative shopping solutions under the brand TheShoppingPro.com, has raised INR 22 Lakh in angel investment from serial entrepreneurs Gaurav Bhatnagar, Ankush Nijhawan and Manish Dhingra. The funds will be utilized to create tools that simplify online shopping for consumers.

“The angel round brings with it the investors’ massive experience from their successful startups making this an extremely valuable association for us” Says Ashish Gupta, Founder & CEO.

Founded by Ashish Gupta & Lavesh Bhandari, both IIT (Delhi) alumni, TheShoppingPro is working on a series of web and mobile tools to make online shopping a breeze. Ashish explains “Our goal is not simply to route some of the shopping transactions through us to make some revenues, but to create a platform that makes the shopping experience so easy and rewarding that it helps users adopt online shopping in a big way. Our journey has started with a browser plugin and we have already built a prototype for the mobile”.

Within a couple of months TheShoppingPro has over seen over 1500 installations and is already generating revenues with over 200 transactions a month. The site has close to a 100 partners in their list including all the big names like Flipkart, Jabong, Myntra, MakeMyTrip and many more. The plugin works across 250 online retailers in India.

Ashish, who earlier co-founded StudyPlaces.com (acquired by EduComp) and was a partner at Tekriti Software (now Public under the brand Kellton Tech), has ambitious plans. “The initial signs are extremely encouraging. We are seeing a repeat usage pattern that we didn’t expect in our wildest dream. But there is a lot more to be done. The mobile is a big piece where purchase suffer massively due to usability issues. Hence, one finds that the purchase to browse ratio in mobiles is abysmally low. Our aim would be to simplify the selection, discounting and checkout mechanism to enable users to buy stuff within a few clicks, without having to visit external sites such as price comparison engines and coupon platforms.”
