Too much information overload on Facebook mobile? Try U2opia's Headlines
A list view which can have text, video, photo, link, widgets and what not - that is what Facebook news feed has become on mobile. The posts itself are so varied - you can have a post form your friends, from pages you like, activities of your friends, from groups you're a part of; The information overload is too much for a few users to handle and has presented app developers with a new problem to solve - an app that organizes all of these posts into separate lists.
Singapore and India based U2opia mobiles has taken this problem into their hands have provided iPhone users with reprise from this problem. Their recently launched app, Headlines, takes a dig at this problem, by presenting "the stories that matter the most to you."
Relevant lists
This is the Headlines app's USP. It gives you 4 relevant lists which can be accessed at the click of a button. The first view is a list of top stories (same as the top stories option on Facebook), the second is a list of the most recent story, the third view is a list of picture only changes and the last list is one from the top pages.
Apart from this, there is a list of friends that you can choose on priority and there is a tab on Headlines that shows a list of all those friends' updates. A button on the top right corner of the app has a star button, using which you can choose your top friends. Each of these lists are further these lists as photos and posts.
A problem solved?
Headlines is definitely solving a problem. I've used this app for a few weeks and I've stopped using the official Facebook app to check for updates. The headlines, along with Facebook Messenger's chat heads, and that to me is the perfect Facebook experience. I wouldn't have missed the prioritize friends list, as Facebook already allows you mark close friends, and it notifies you of all their updates.
There have been releases from U2opia about it "Overtaking Candy Crush Saga on App Store" in Singapore and other South East Asian countries. This happened after the app went through a redesign. This isn't their first Facebook based app as they had recently partnered with Facebook globally to power Facebook access on basic and feature phones via Facebook for USSD. So popular was the app, that 8 out of 10 Facebook users in African nations use this service to access Facebook.
I think this is a great app and if you're an iPhone user, you should definitely give it a shot.
