What if you get the menus of your favorite restaurants on their Facebook pages? What if you could order it from Facebook only?
Well, at least the first part is reality now. Facebook today announced that the Pages categorized as “Restaurant/Cafe” will have an access to the additional feature and they can add menus.
Facebook's blog mentioned,
When looking for a great meal, people often turn to Facebook to find a restaurant’s location, hours of operation and menu. That’s why, beginning today, we’re making it easier for restaurants worldwide to display one of their most important assets directly on their Facebook Page — their menus.
Facebook has partnered with Constant Contact, an online listings service that helps local businesses connect and engage with consumers by showcasing menus, products and services, photos, specials and more. Restaurant in US and Canada can now upload menus through SinglePlatform from Constant Contact. However, the restaurants outside of US or Canada, or who do not work with SinglePlatform, can upload a PDF of their menu. (On your Page, go to Settings → Page Info → Menus.)
ConstantContact communicated(via email) that,
The update allows restaurants to easily upload and update their menus onto their local business Page. People on Facebook will now be able find the menus in a brand new tab on the restaurant’s local business Page- right next to the Photos and Likes tabs.
While there is no option of ordering food through Facebook as of now, given the above update, Facebook can soon launch its wallet and enable ordering, reviewing and much more. Also, it'll be interesting to see that how does it impact the online restaurant guides and food ordering platforms like Yelp, Justeat, Zomato and others.
If you have your restaurant/cafe's page on Facebook, then do visit the Help Center to learn more about adding or editing a menu on your Page.
