This 48-year-old beggar from Jaipur is studying law to get a job
Shiv Singh lives in Jaipur. The 48-year-old begs at shops and houses during the daytime. As soon as the clock strikes 3:00pm, he rushes to the Rajasthan University college campus carrying books in his old and torn bag.
Teachers and classmates say it is hard to believe that Shiv is a beggar. He is an extremely sincere student. On days when there is no class, Shiv sits and studies in the library. He never misses a class.
Shiv told the Daily Bhaskar that he too had a family. His parents paid for his studies despite being labourers. He pursued his graduation from Government College in Gangapur City, got married, and had kids too. However, he could not get a job as a labourer since his hands did not work. His wife and kids left him and he had no option left but to beg.
People taunt Shiv for begging. But the truth is that his hands did not work which was why he could not even be a labourer. Shiv saved the money from begging to buy law books. All he wants now is to complete his degree after which he hopes to get a job in the court.
