[PhotoSparks] Art and climate change: meet the activists and artists at the United Nations COP22 Summit in Marrakech
PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In this photo essay, we feature some of the inspiring works of art at the United Nations’ Climate Change Summit 2016 in Marrakech, Morocco!
In the earlier 105 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from an art fair, world music festival, painting fair, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, math museum, social hackathon, bookstore, co-working space, sensorium, international design week, flower show, outdoor ads, startup roadshow, computer museum, startup T-shirts, business cards, art therapy, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, Vesak, jazz festival, modern art gallery, ecopreneurs, painter-poets, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators.
My travels this month brought me to magical Marrekech for panel discussions and keynotes at two events, Africa4Tech 2016 and the ‘COP22’ Climate Change Summit. In this photo essay, we feature artists and designers from around the world who are creating evocative messages about global warming and promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
Global warming is everyone’s problem, and artists are also spearheading the march with techies, entrepreneurs and activists for favourable climate change. Inspiring logos, dystopian visions, messages of hope, images of despair, upcycled art, models of extinct animals, aerial habitat views, symbols of cooperation, and even street art – COP22 has them all!
We thank all the artists and curators including Pierre Esteve, Patricia Ruscito, and Selmen Nahdi, as well as Mind the Earth, Arkane Africa, and 60 Solutions (see earlier photo essay from their Bengaluru roadshow) for inspiring us with their urgent call to action. So what kind of world do you want to leave behind?
