How to bounce back after a crisis and get back to your business
As an entrepreneur, people are always counting on you to gain affirmation in terms of business decisions, deadlines, clients, and the like. It might look like you are the king of the jungle – strong and in control. But what happens when you have been struck with grief or a crisis situation at home, with a family member, or had a bad accident? You can take a break and look into your problems. But for how long? Situations such as a divorce, fights, or the loss of a friend can occur to anyone, including entrepreneurs, who are, after all, only human. You may have your best intentions in mind and try to bounce back with zeal only to find yourself feeling lost and scared. Whatever it may be, you should try to deal with it in the best possible way. Sometimes, it may be a little too tough to handle both physically and emotionally. There isn’t any reason for you to fake confidence and happiness at these times. There are a few things to keep in mind while trying to move through these situations.

Change your routine
It may be tough to revert to the same routine. Sometimes, memories may come flashing back and you may feel like you belong nowhere. Just take a deep breath and change the way you work. Instead of trying to accomplish a task all at one go, take breaks and move around. Reward yourself by going for a coffee break or just listen to some soothing music while taking a stroll outside.
Keep an eye on what’s most important
Of course you can’t look into everything at once. So focus on what is going to do well for the business at the moment and get to the clients whom you think require immediate attention. This will also keep you very busy owing to the urgency of the task.
Develop your support system
Always remember that you are not alone. Everyone encounters roadblocks in life. Try to get help and delegate work to your team. People understand what you are going through and are willing to help. While the fear of being judged may engulf you, try to understand that no one is out there to point a finger. Some days might be harder than the rest.
Surround yourself with positive people
When you surround yourself with positive people, you will create room for renewed energy. It could be any person who has the power to do this – the cheerful janitor, the ever-friendly mailman, or maybe a bunch of happy kids who play in the garden near your home. Spend time with such people and you will feel enriched and energized.
Live to fight another day
Get up and get set for another day! Nothing is constant in this world but change. So stop thinking about the past and change the way you see things. The world is a stage wherein we have to face several situations and people. It’s the way we handle things that make all the difference.
Remember, this too will pass. It’s okay to let yourself loose without trying too hard to portray yourself as comfortable and at ease.
