Come be a part of YourStory's directory of women entrepreneurs in India

Thursday September 27, 2018 , 2 min Read

YourStory is compiling a directory of women-led businesses in India through a survey that aims to put together the most comprehensive list of businesses run by women.

Click here to take this three-minute survey.

According to the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs 2018, the year 2016 saw an estimated 163 million women starting or running new businesses in 74 countries. The report stated that women in markets with lower index scores (below 55) tend to exhibit less inclination towards business ownership (less than 15 percent). India falls in a category of countries where women are less likely to continue their businesses or tend to drop out faster, or be less driven due to a lack of resources, or funding, or cultural and social biases.

Amid these challenges, investors often ask, “Where are the women?” They need to see more women entrepreneurs with a great business. If almost feels like a vicious cycle. How do you break the cycle and show that despite the challenges women want to start a business in India and are keen to grow their business? Some are already doing it but don’t have the visibility.

So we're taking the first step to first identify the number of women entrepreneurs out there running a business. You'll hear about our next step in a few weeks.

This quick, three-minute survey is designed to help us understand the number of women-led business out there (in addition to our own database), as well as the kind of businesses they're running.
