Cyber attacks can cost up to $10M; Zomato to soon deliver food using drones

With small and big businesses moving on to the digital space, cybersecurity has become one of the biggest concerns. If the latest study is to be believed, a large-sized Indian firm stands to incur a loss of around $10.3 million from cyber attacks. And this is without taking into account other factors like job losses, as seen in various instances.

Drone at your doorstep: Zomato takes a huge step to modernise food delivery

One step at a time, food delivery unicorn Zomato is changing the game when it comes to the way how people order food and get it delivered to their doorstep. The company recently acquired a Lucknow-based startup that works exclusively on drones, TechEagle Innovations. With this, Zomato aims to create and use technology that will enable delivery of food via drones in the near future.

Facilio raises $6.4 M in Series A funding Tiger Global

Facilio, the startup offering facilities optimisation using artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT), recently raised $6.4 million during Series A funding. The round was led by Tiger Global and existing investor Accel Partners. As for future goals, the funds raised will be used by the team to pursue their expansion and consolidation plans and also for R&D for product innovation.


Gurugram-based startup BuildSupply raises $3.5 M from Venture Highway

Real estate ecommerce platform BuildSupply announced it has raised $3.5 million in Series A funding from Venture Highway, a venture capital company. Other investors participating in this round included Amit Singhal, ex-Head of Google Search, and existing investors Gree Ventures, Sonny Kalsi, GreenOak founder, the Space Matrix Group and the Co-founders of Livspace. “We will use the funds to accelerate our sales and tech hiring…” added Sameer Nayar, CEO and Founder of BuildSupply.


Hotels association puts MakeMyTrip and Goibibo on notice

The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) has written to MakeMyTrip and Goibibo, warning them of a nationwide protest, if current issues were "not amicably resolved”. In a statement, the pan-India federation has alleged that these OTAs’ business practices are "exploitative, unethical and divisive leading to predatory pricing and other market distortions, which has a potential to harm both hoteliers and consumers in the long term".
