Applied Materials plans new R&D centre in Bengaluru
Applied Materials, a semiconductor company, is planning to set up a centre of excellence for innovation and an R&D lab in Bengaluru. This development comes following the meeting of the company’s officials with Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil in the US.
The company’s officials sought the state government’s support in this regard and requested to expedite the process of issuing pre-construction approvals to set up its lab. The team also discussed the importance of chemicals and gases needed for the semiconductor ecosystem and the ease of doing business. Recently, Applied Materials announced an investment plan of $400 million spread over the next four years to set up an engineering centre in Bengaluru.
In another meeting with San Francisco-headquartered Juniper Networks Inc, the delegation discussed various issues including enhancement of its R&D capabilities in the state, exploration of hardware manufacturing along with supplier ecosystem, policies, and incentives in Karnataka.

Zendesk unveils new GenAI features for CX solutions

has announced generative AI advancements for its customer experience (CX) solutions. According to the company, as part of the Zendesk AI solution, organisations can deploy generative AI-powered bots that quickly supply answers to customers. Additionally, agents, admins and managers now have more AI tools to customise and enhance their CX solutions. Also, customers of Zendesk also have the option to receive AI-generated conversation summaries and transcripts.According to the 2023 Zendesk CX Trends Report, nearly 70% of consumers expect most companies will use generative AI to improve their experiences. The new Zendesk generative AI capabilities enable bots to summarise key information from multiple help centre articles for more natural conversations with customers. With these Zendesk AI enhancements, agents can resolve requests faster and more consistently with contextually similar tickets.
Nutanix adds new cybersecurity features to cloud platform
, a cloud software company, has announced new features in the Nutanix Cloud Platform to strengthen organisations’ cyber resilience against ransomware attacks on unstructured data. These new features, available in Nutanix Data Lens and Nutanix Unified Storage solutions, enable organisations to detect a threat, defend from further damage and begin a one-click recovery process within 20 minutes of exposure.
The features build on the strength of Nutanix Cloud Platform to protect and secure customers’ most sensitive data across clouds.

AXISCADES appoints Abidali Neemuchwala as new chairman

Avo Automation QA training programme
Avo Automation, a test automation solutions company, has announced the launch of Avo Automation Foundation League (AFL). AFL, a training and certification programme, is designed to help quality assurance (QA) specialists learn and upgrade key skills for successful test automation careers.
Through online courses, hands-on labs, and live coaching, QA specialists will be empowered to efficiently work on Avo’s platforms and deliver robust test automation results, a statement said. According to the company, since AFL’s launch, Avo Automation has received over 2,000 registrations from 200-plus organisations.
