Practice Abhyanga- You can give yourself a quick Abhyanga, which is a type of massage or you can get it done from a professional. Our hands, neck, and feet are the main stress bearing areas of our body. To relieve stress you can use moisturizing massage oil or if that is not available to you, you can also use virgin olive oil.
Therapeutic aromas- Ever experienced distress in stinky or smelly situation or areas? It's not wise to think otherwise. Well, therapeutic aromas or natural flowers create a calming environment and release dopamine in your brain, which signals happiness and relaxation. You can also add aroma oil to your bathtub to create a calming effect. There are varieties of oils which you can buy from a market or you can them online too.
Listen to calm music- This means to listen to music that almost puts you to sleep but doesn't. Well, that was sarcasm. On a serious note, music affects our nervous system and provokes emotions. Different kinds of music provoke different kinds of emotions, that's why we listen to music depending on our mood. So, in this case, we need to relax so we will listen to music that calms us and induces relaxation. Some good example would be nature's sound like birds chirping, River flowing, etc. Someone who likes flute can listen to relaxing flute music and so on.
Rasayanas- There are herbs which act as stress and anxiety blocker and increase our ability to bear stress and prevent the nervous breakdown in extreme situations. Rasayanas is also called Amrit, it is derived from a tree branch and has its mention in Ayurveda and considered as a rejuvenating agent for a mind in ancient mythology and in today's era too.
Transcendental Meditation- It is one of the obvious points, which thousands of individual’s practice on a daily basis to relax that is why I have included it in my article too. Transcendental meditation promotes a reduction in the stress hormone cortisol, lactic acid, an indicator of stress and anxiety and increases serotonin which is good for your nervous system.
