Dehradun, nestled at the foot of the Himalayas, is one of the ideal romantic gateways and is one of the ideal destinations for families as well as group get together. Located between the banks of Ganga and Yamuna River, it is filled with picturesque scenery. The place is famous for the breathtaking view of the Himalayas and the cool rivers that flow by the city. And, as if this wasn’t enough to woo you, it also has one of the most pleasant climate in India throughout the year.

Not just the scenery, the city is also famous for housing some of the most reputed institutes present in India, two of it being the Indian Military Academy and the Forest Research Institute. One of the places that one needs to visit in this city is the museum that is present in the Forest Research Institute. This museum/institute is the place where most of the officers for the Forest Department are trained. One can also find some the most beautiful and majestic architectures inside the premises of this institute.

Not just these, Dehradun is also very famous for its food. Along with the food, this place is also a shopper’s paradise. It is also a paradise for all the adventure junkies wherein, one can enjoy cycling, trekking, hot air ballooning, etc.

Dehradun also acts like a port to some of the other beautiful locations that are close by, some of them being:

Badrinath: At just 336.3 kms away, it is one of the four locations of Char Dham. This place has been famous from the early years of the Vedas wherein, the name of this place has been mentioned.

It shall also mesmerize one with its glorious scenery that surrounds it. One needs to visit the Vasudhara Falls, which is said to have been the resting place for the Pandavas. Kedarnath: At just around 250 kms away from the city of Dehradun. This place is situated on top of the Garhwal Himalayas. This is also one of the cities of the Char Dham. Yamunotri: At 181 kms away from Dehradun, this is the birthplace of Yamuna. One of the cities of Char Dham, it has a natural beauty to it which adds on to the beauty of this mythological place.
