The term seems like a fancy technical jargon. There are many definitions online by experts that readers find difficulty in understanding.

Web Analytics is simply understanding the online presence and optimizing your website or marketing to your website or both, to increase the conversion.

Now, what is a conversion?

It is merely getting your casual visitors to do something ‘that YOU WANT’ them to do on your website. This is really the goal of any business be it brick-mortar or online retailing. The goals are the same.

But the difference is, using web analytics gives online entities a level of customer examination that their traditional counterparts could only dream of.
