Geoinformatics is the branch of science & technology which deals with the study of information science in order to approach the problems related to geography, cartography and Geo-sciences. Essentially it is the practice of data accumulation, analysis, processing and storage of spatial information & development of relevant infrastructure. The field covers an extremely broad spectrum which spans across other sectors like zoology, botany & environmental studies. Not only that but fisheries, forest mapping, Ornithology, agricultural encroachment, so forth and so on are also the domains associated with Geoinformatics. So it is apparent that the field has a vast number of career opportunities & growth prospects. The technology encircling the field is advancing day-by-day, which makes it necessary for the people who practice this science to be up-to-date & proficient in the field. In this article, we will discuss the two programs which train the aspiring Geoinformatics personnel to a masters level.
M.Tech in Geoinformatics:
