Centre for Innovation & Incubation launched in Bhubaneswar; to receive technical support from Germany
Centre for Innovation and Incubation (CII) has been established at Central Tool Room and Training Centre in Bhubaneswar. The centre was inaugurated by LN Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of Odisha, reports KNN.
The CII has been approved by DC-MSME, Government of India, as a host institute for business incubation, and is also recognised as a ‘Startup Facilitation Centre’ by the state MSME department.
Gupta said, “I advise CTTC to become sector specific and focus on aerospace, agriculture, engineering and medical device, etc, as per their domain expertise. I urge CTTC-CII to learn from other leading TBIs’ experiences/modus operandi and should be established as one of the vibrant incubation centres in the country within a short time.”
Entrepreneurs and young innovators will have access to support, right from ideas to commercialisation, such as idea screening, intellectual property rights evaluation and filing for registration, technology/product development, prototype development, mentorship, techno legal assistance for setting up units, creating scope for technology licensing and commercialisation etc. at the centre.
“The new centre should operate in mission mode for achieving targets to create more entrepreneurs and create an ecosystem in the state,” Gupta added. “The availability of abundant talent in Odisha brings a tremendous opportunity to accelerate innovation and create entrepreneurs in the state.”
The event was attended by more than 100 MSME stakeholders including working professionals, startups, entrepreneurs, and industry association members, according to KNN.
Further, the centre will also receive external support. Identified by the Ministry of MSME as one of the five technology centers, the centre will receive technical support from GIZ (Germany) for capacity building, facility planning, exposure visit and engaging technical experts under a bilateral cooperation programme.
Centre for Innovation and Incubation at CTTC is seeking to emerge as a leading startup hub in the region and convert dreams into reality for young innovators in the state.
