Top celebrities sign up to be ‘Class of 2020’ Commencement speakers in US Colleges
If you are all set to celebrate your graduation day this year or if you know someone in your family who is awaiting this big event, here’s some inspiration and motivation from celebrities like John Legend, Hillary Clinton, Pitbull, Khalid and Bobbi Brown who are addressing the class of 2020
Although we are still in lockdown mode, and the period remains indefinite and uncertain globally, people are coming together to help each cope with life during these times of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Celebrities worldwide are doing their bit too to reach out to their fans. They are sending out inspiring messages, videos, and posting activities from their homes via social media.
Virtual events abound
Since events which include a large gathering of citizens, such as music concerts, alcohol tastings, weddings, baby showers, funerals and college commencements have been cancelled for one year, virtual events have taken centre stage now.
Commencement ceremonies will also be taking place virtually to contain the spread of this highly contagious virus, which has thus far claimed the lives of over 1,65,106 individuals globally.
The hand of solidarity
A number of leading celebrities have come together in solidarity to lend their voices for college commencements that will be taking place this year.
Graduation day is a big event for students and their families. Through the launch of a new podcast from iHeartMedia, celebrities will now be sending positive messages of hope, resilience, and affirmation to young college graduates on their big day.
Commencement: Speeches for the class of 2020 is expected to debut on May 15, ahead of National Graduation Day on May 17.
A podcast initiative
Jimmy Fallon, Halsey, Hillary Clinton, John Legend, Kesha, Pitbull, and David Chang have already decided to be a part of this podcast initiative by iHeartMedia students with inspiring words.
Other celebrities that hope to enlighten the class of 2020 include soccer player and World Cup champ Abby Wambach, Katie Couric, makeup artist Bobbi Brown, Chelsea Handler, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, football player Eli Manning, Sienna Miller, singer and songwriter Khalid, journalist Guy Raz, Tim McGraw and Gen. Stan McChrystal.
