Soho-based film processing lab doubles capacity

The facility can now handle bonded feature film processing

Reliance MediaWorks London lab is already a preferred destination for film negative processing for leading commercials and high end television work

Mumbai/London/Cannes, 18 May 2010 – Reliance MediaWorks Ltd., India’s fastest growing film and entertainment services company and a member of the Reliance ADA group has expanded its UK operations with the installation of a second high-end neg bath and additional facilities, enabling the company to now handle processing bonded feature films for Hollywood, British and European producers shooting in the UK. Earlier this year, Reliance MediaWorks had acquired the assets of ilab UK Ltd.

The highly regarded lab, one of only two film processing facilities operating in London’s SOHO, is already the preferred destination for film negative processing for leading commercials and high end television work, including the majority of BBC’s key drama productions like Spooks, Waking the Dead and New Tricks among others. The deliverables include the acclaimed and box office hit ‘Earth’ for the BBC & Disney, the feature film version of the hit series ‘Planet Earth’.

Reliance MediaWorks UK now offers front-end, processing, restoration, 2D to 3D conversion and post-production services to Broadcasters and Studios. The company has added additional 5,000 sq. ft. premises on SOHO at 55 Poland Street in London to house its extensive film and media services offerings.

Reliance MediaWorks UK recently also unveiled the ‘Complete 16’ scheme with UK’s Fujifilm for a complete package on 16mm stock, processing, clean, prep and transfer. In addition the lab has ability to handle Super 16mm, 35mm & Super 35mm & Vista Vision film formats and can scan to any digital format.

Commenting on the expansion, Anil Arjun, CEO, Reliance MediaWorks said, “our London lab has developed a reputation as one of the top processing labs anywhere in the world. As an integrated global film and media service provider, we see a strong business opportunity across Europe, which is why we are making significant investments to increase the capacity of our London lab and enable it to support work on major feature film productions as well”. The lab has already processed several independent UK and European feature films, having recently also catered to Indian film productions in London and UK.

Reliance MediaWorks has a major presence at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it is showcasing its range of services in UK, US and India to the European and global community of film makers. The company has a dominant and comprehensive presence in Film Services: Motion Picture Processing and DI; Visual Effects; Film Restoration and Image Enhancement; Animation; 2D to 3D Conversion; Digital Mastering: Studios and Equipment rentals with presence across at US, UK, Japan and India.
