New Delhi Based Startup InkPrint - Simplifying Printing
Web-to-print is still in a nascent stage in India but has been catching steam over the past couple of years, resulting in opening of the markets. Individuals, startups and event organizers form a huge chunk of the customer-pie. Founded by two Abhishek Gupta’s (that’s definitely a first for us, two co-founders with the same name!), InkPrint started operations in January 2010. Before Inkprint, Abhishek worked for three years in the offline Print Industry under the name, Turtle Print which makes InkPrint pretty much a natural progression.InkPrint Services: Bookmarks, Brochures, Business Cards, Envelopes, Flyers, Letterheads, Posters, Pocket folders and other custom jobs.
“With our growing experience we realized that the whole process of ordering print was slow, complicated and therefore inefficient”says Abhishek (prizes for guessing the correct Abhishek). This led them to startup InkPrint. There are others player like Printo (Bangalore) and PrintBindaas (Mumbai) in the same field but competition can only be good for this huge market. “We are trying to set us apart with our easy to use web portal, non-compromising print quality and our fanatic customer service.” says Abhishek.
Gopata, who is a B.Tech from IIT Roorkee, brings his expertise in user experience design to the table. InkPrint also has an experienced development partner, Aurigrait along with a team for production and operations. Andie and Gopata, who also happen to be childhood friends, believe the present Indian customers to be skeptical about getting the correct format, colors and print quality.
“It would be challenging for us to inculcate a habit in Indian customers to place their print order online.” says Andie. InkPrint tries to overcome this hurdle by building an intuitive and simple online ordering system with clean friendly user interface. InkPrint also introduces the concept of “Soft-Proofing” to make the whole process quick and error-free.
Along with free shipping to any part of India, InkPrint also provides free samples to customers so that they can assess the quality before placing an order. Being based in Delhi and having not marketed aggressively, majority of the customers come from Delhi but this is changing slowly. Having had international clients during their offline stint, the contacts would be an added advantage.
Apart from printing, InkPrint also provides graphic design services which is currently available only offline though. They have a specialized team to design for print. Growing majorly through a word of mouth, Inkprint would soon be exploring other marketing models which would tackle the issues most of the online companies are facing- making Indian customers buy online.
“We are committed to creating a world class platform to make online print procurement easier and more user-friendly than ever before!” says Andie before signing off.
