Drishti Eye Care receives first round of funding from Lok Capital

Drishti, a company that provides eye care to underserved populations, recently received funding from Lok Capital, a social impact investor that provides capital to companies serving the bottom of the pyramid. The investment marks Lok Capital’s entry into the healthcare sector.The newly acquired funds will help Drishti expand their eye-care services to the segment of the Indian population that does not have access to necessary treatments. About 12 million people in India suffer from blindness despite about 80% of these cases being preventable and treatable when appropriate measures are taken. The staggering number of blind people in India, many of which coming from rural or poor communities, points to a lack of access to adequate services, and the growing need for companies like Drishti to address this underserved market.
