Meet the man from Rajkot who handmade a 1,000cc bike

While many of us have dreamt of riding a 1,000cc bike, with the cheapest one costing around Rs 10 lakh, owning one is too far-fetched even to consider. Riddhesh Vyas from Rajkot, Gujarat, shattered that belief by building a 1,000cc bike of his own.

Named 'The Ridd', it has a six-speed transmission, hydraulic clutch, four-cylinder engine, and a maximum speed of 170 km per hour. The length of the bike is 8 feet 9 inches while the weight is around 450 kg. The Ridd is a chopper bike that has been made by hand except for the engine, hydraulic system, and tyres. Riddhesh ensured he jotted down all the best features of high-end bikes and implemented them on The Ridd.

Riddhesh is not a graduate with a degree in engineering or design. However, he has had plenty of experience in the metal working industry. He has a business which deals with metals and repairs and he started to give life to his passion by servicing motorcycles all by himself.

It took Riddhesh almost eight years and Rs 8 lakh to build his bike. He even went on to find a place for himself in the Limca Book of World Records as the creator of the first handmade 1,000cc bike.
