But leaving aside the sodas and cocktails, there’s a very important pairing that we often forget - food. In fact, most cultures around the world prefer consuming some type of alcohol with their meal.
However, it’s important to note that pairing whisky with food isn’t a simple task. The idea is to not just blend things that go well together, but to create a gastronomic synergy where the food and the whisky bring out something new in each other. This is precisely why Signature is bringing together master blender Caroline Martin and master chef Ranveer Brar for Signature Tastings.
What is it?
Signature Tastings is a masterclass featuring Caroline Martin and Ranveer Brar, where they will showcase their expertise in their respective fields. The event will see both the masters talking about their journeys and blending their passions for whisky and food. The sessions, which will be attended by various food celebrities and whisky enthusiasts, will include whisky tasting and food pairing.
The Signature Tastings with the Master Blenders will be held across five cities from February 19-23, kicking off in Bangalore, and moving on to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati, in that order.
The hunt is on
While the masters can tell you what the best pairings are, we all have our own favourite chakna and meals that we prefer to eat with whisky. Well, the Signature folks want to know what goes perfectly with your peg of Signature Whisky - it could be a plate of good old french fries, some smoked salmon, or juicy chicken ghee roast.
