In Part I of our photo essay on this art gallery, we showcase the wide range of prints, multimedia works and installations on display.

PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In the earlier 240 posts, we featured an art festival, cartoon gallery. world music festivaltelecom expomillets fair, climate change expo, wildlife conference, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, and jazz festival.

The works of established and emerging artists pack the aisles and walls of Focus Art Gallery in Egmore, Chennai. It also runs regular thematic and solo shows of artists. The art works are priced from Rs 350 to Rs 10 lakh, according to gallery director Mayur Shah, who joins us in an interview in Part II of this photo essay.

Artists featured at the gallery over the years include KG Subramanyan, DLN Reddy, Nandini Goud, Mark Rathinaraj, Ram Kumar, Jumana Topiwala, C Douglas, KS Radhakrishnan, A Viswam, Yuriko Lochan, Thota Tharrani, Gayatri Shantaram, AP Santhanaraj, KR Santhana Krishnan, Bhagwan Chavan, Laxma Goud, Gauri Gill, Swaroop Biswas, and Chandana Hore.

The exhibitions held at the gallery have been titled Landscapes, Silent Dialogue, Ascending Figures, Eternal Elements, From the Shore, Time Line, Familiar Spaces, Indigenous Lines, Metamorphosis, Ascription to the Divine, Notes from the Desert, (Re)Creating Authenticity, Fusion, Perspective, and More than Once.

Water colours, oil paintings, photographs, installations, prints and drawings in traditional and contemporary styles are just some of the attractions for art lovers, art buyers and casual visitors. The gallery helped restore art works damaged during the Chennai floods, and the exhibition themed Threads of Compassion featured artworks of differently-abled people.
