Wipro to partner with UK retailer with John Lewis Partnership

Wipro said it has been selected by the John Lewis Partnership (JLP) to modernise the firm’s IT infrastructure. This transformation is expected to help the UK retailer advance its industry leadership and future-proof its business to drive ongoing, sustainable growth.

As part of this engagement, Wipro FullStride Cloud will extend JLP’s current cloud infrastructure, network and end user services for another four years. The Wipro FullStride Cloud team will collaborate with JLP and Google Cloud in a transformation of their X86 platform to the cloud, enabling them to to be more agile, optimise operating costs, and streamline business operations.

As part of this engagement, Wipro and JLP will investigate the adoption of innovative solutions that continue to reinforce their industry leadership and put the retailer at the forefront of retail technology and store modernisation.

Nasscom signs MoU with Malaysia tech industry bodies

Indian technology industry body nasscom said it signed two Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), which are aimed at fostering stronger, sustained, and long-term business engagements between the Malaysian digital ecosystem and the Indian tech industry.

These strategic MoUs are set to enhance awareness of the Malaysian technology landscape among Indian companies, facilitate bilateral trade and investment opportunities, and provide essential market access support. Key initiatives include business matching platforms, networking sessions, and dialogues aimed at creating significant market opportunities for both nations.

SUSE unveils AI updates for Indian enterprises

SUSE, the global open source software company for enterprises, unveiled several key updates designed to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and market expansion within the Indian enterprise landscape. To this end, SUSE plans to add roles such as product development, technical experts, and go-to-market resources to its team of over 100, to support business growth.

Among the key updates include SUSE AI, which will provide organisations with the flexibility to deploy private generative AI solutions with their preferred LLMs, either on-premises or in the cloud.

SUSE’s approach to AI is grounded in open-source principles, emphasising security and customer choice. SUSE AI will adopt a responsible AI framework, allowing enterprises to select the models and tools that best suit their needs while maintaining privacy and security.

AHEAD opens new office in Hyderabad

AHEAD, a provider of cloud, data, and engineering solutions, has launched its new office in Hyderabad with the aim to hire 500 employees by the end of next year. This expansion follows the establishment of its dedicated delivery office in Gurugram last year.

This move is part of AHEAD’s broader vision to strengthen its brand in southern India and tap into the top talent in that region. According to the company, Hyderabad provides talent with expertise in segments like storage, backup, networking, and software development.

Thales signs new contract with L&T Technology Services

Thales, a global technology company, signed a new contract with global engineering and R&D firm L&T Technology Services Limited. This partnership will bring Thales’s software monetisation platform, Thales Sentinel, to LTTS’ customer base, especially in the High-tech, Sustainability and Mobility segments.

Under the new contract, LTTS will resell the Thales Sentinel platform to its customer base and group affiliates globally across diverse sectors, including transportation, medical, high-tech, telecom, and financial services.

With the Thales Sentinel software licensing and entitlement platform, LTTS will enable its customers to monetise its software solutions by harnessing recurring revenue business models including agile subscriptions and flexible usage-based pricing models.

Indian brands are embracing AI: Adobe report

Adobe released its Digital Trends 2024 Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) report, indicating how Indian brands are embracing the generative AI deployment. Brands across the Asia Pacific and Japan region are set to make major near-term organisational changes to scale up adoption, revealing a dynamic shift in the region’s digital landscape.

According to the findings of the report, Indian brands are leading the charge, showcasing their exceptional data capabilities and unwavering commitment to governance frameworks. These strengths are driving their prominent position in the adoption of generative AI, setting them apart as pioneers in technological innovation. The report also highlighted India’s role in shaping the future of AI, emphasising its influence in advancing industry standards and ensuring ethical use of emerging technologies.

According to executives among Indian brands, 52% leveraged data and algorithms to deliver personalised website experiences, the highest in the region. Additionally, 38% employed generative AI to craft customised emails, messages, and other content, further demonstrating their leadership.

Neilsoft to offer its solution for Indian manufacturing companies

Neilsoft Private Limited, an engineering services and solutions (ER&D) provider, said it will be providing its solutions for Indian manufacturing companies through Neil Automation. Neil Automation Private Limited (Neil Automation) will offer manufacturing & building automation and digital factory solutions across the shopfloor, factory and enterprise levels to enable companies in their Industry 4.0 journey.

Neil Automation will also offer an energy management system to help improve energy efficiency for large facilities like factories, plants, hospitals, data centers, technology centers and campuses by automating real-time data collection through IoT, providing dashboards and controlling the energy consumption as per programmed guidelines.

Sify Infinit Spaces gets new CEO

Sify Technologies Limited has announced the appointment of Sharad Agarwal as the Chief Executive Officer of Sify Infinit Spaces Limited, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Sify Technologies Limited.

Prior to Sify, Sharad was at Vantage, where he was mandated to build their Data Center business. This was preceded by a long stint at Amazon Web Services where he front-ended capacity delivery for an APAC region.
