Diagnosed with a genetic disorder, this student from Bengaluru scored 72 pc in Class 12 exams

It’s that time of the year again when students across India eagerly wait for their board results. While a few students pass out with flying colours, there are others who may not secure the highest marks.

And then there are those who beat all the odds such as poverty and lack of educational resource, and manage to secure good marks.

But for Kanhaiya M from Bengaluru, scoring 72 percent in the Karnataka Board Class 12 exams was nothing short of an achievement.

The 18-year-old is suffering from muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder, which leads the body to progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass, reports The Logical Indian.

Kanhaiya, who wrote the exam from his bed, has proved that disability is no barrier if one is willing to work hard. Speaking about Kanhaiya’s determination for appearing the board exams, his mother said,

He was very determined and told us that he wants to appear for the board examinations, reports The Hindu.

A student of BES PU College, Kanhaiya told the The Hindu that government authorities allowed him a bed and a table to give his exams, and he wrote the exams with the help of a scribe. According to his mother, Kanhaiya was given an extra hour to complete the exam.

Kanhaiya, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of seven, never let his disability stop him from his studies. He continued going to school, and had a unique setup to study where in the book was placed over a glass screen kept inverted over his head. And while preparing for his exams, Kanhaiya would take his mother’s help to turn the pages.

However, this isn’t the first time Kanhaiya has come out with flying colours. During Class 10 board exams, he had secured 82 percent.

Now, Kanhaiya is likely to join a BCom course soon, reports The Logical Indian.
